I love these people. They were my support system and continue to be my support system. They are my family and my friends. They are the people I will always keep in contact with no matter what. I love my James Baldwin Scholars. The James Baldwin Scholarship program is amazing!

I don’t like the term Hispanic. I am nobody’s panic. I like to use this quote, to clear things up:

“I am not HISPANIC (a term originating from the word Hispania, which was the name given to the Iberian Peninsula at the time of the Roman Empire)…I am not SPANISH (Spanish is a language or the correct terminology used to refer to people from Spain…I do SPEAK Spanish but I am NOT from Spain)…I am not Latin (Latin is a dead language)…I am LATINO, and no…the “english” word for Latino is not Latin!…Latino is Latino!…Latino is the correct terminology used to refer to people whose background is a mixture of European, African, and Indigenous cultures!”
